Together for a better world for all. 3 December, 2011 - International Day of Persons with Disabilities


The UN General Assembly with Resolution 47/3 of 12 October 1992 established the International Day of persons with disabilities. This year the theme of the celebrations will focus on the slogan
"Together for a better world for all: Including persons with disabilities in development"

Status of Convention and Optional Protocol Signatories and Ratification As of 21 November 2007

In the previous years the campaigns of public awareness dealt with the following themes:

2010 - "Keeping the promise: Mainstreaming disability in the Millennium Development Goals towards 2015 and beyond".

2009 - "Making the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) disability-inclusive: Empowerment of persons with disabilities and their communities around the world".

2008 - "Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Dignity and justice for all of us".
