Mapping the Blogosphere to understand political change around the world

The Berkman Center at Harvard University has started the Democracy and Internet Project to examine how the Internet influences democratic norms and modes, including its impact on civil society, citizen media, government transparency, and the rule of law.

The first three case studies of the project dealt with:

• The user-generated news site OhmyNews and its impact on the 2002 elections in South Korea. 
• The role of technology in Ukraine’s Orange Revolution. 
• The composition of the  network and content of the Iranian blogosphere.
